Name: Captain Irvette Winifred
Gender: Female
Age: 27
Species: Hedgehog
Occupation: Pirate Lord and Slaver Extraordinaire
Physical Appearance:
In all appearance, Irvette can be described as disarming. She’s well groomed, and holds herself with poise. She has small charcoal black eyes that always bear a light twinkle in them. She has light, almost white fur on her face and body, with a slightly darker patch over her nose. She has lighter spikes too, a mixture of almost salt and pepper. Her crew jokes calling her a Lady, to reference her older-then-her-age appearance. She has round, pinkish gray ears that are slightly larger than they should be, with the right one missing a good chunk from a previous encounter. This doesn’t stop her from wearing golden hoop earrings. She generally wears an ivory colored tunic, black or dark brown vest, black or dark brown trousers, and a red coat. And red boots to match! On her neck she wears a round gold amulet inscribed with some far off language, bearing a garnet stone in the middle. On her left paw she wears a delicate gold ring.
Possessions:
The pirate staples! On her leather belt there is always a bag with coins, a dagger, (Couple others hidden on her person too) hand cuffs, small booklet, a travel quill, and a small inkwell.
Personality:
Irvette is nothing, if not dignified and polite. Within the first 5 minutes of the conversation she is one of the most pleasant, amicable, and proper individuals. Though, almost anyone who spoken to her for more than 10 minutes, often describes her as a monster lacking a soul. She doesn’t like to raise her voice, and absolutely despises violence, unless of course it’s a necessity. She is of course inclined to bend the truth, any which way, to suit her needs, but, then again… a little white lie never hurts anyone, does it? Mind you, she may be small, and with pleasant smile, but she doesn’t take kindly to rudeness or threats against herself, or those in her care. She rewards loyalty, and punishes anyone out of line. Calm and collected is her mantra, for if you lose your cool, you lose the battle, you grow weak… and that’s not an option upon the high seas.
Strengths:
Her charisma and conviction. She operates on a moral code that applies not only to herself, but to those around her, as she focuses on the betterment of all within her circle.
She has a strategic mind, considering the possibilities, and the opportunities that each encounter and each development offers. She seeks to always have a way or an option, even if all around it is hopeless.
She has an excellent memory, and a keen eye to detail. After all, to rule those who are stronger than you, you have to be smarter than them.
Weaknesses:
One main, and ironic one, is that she’s not too keen on fighting. If for nothing else other than her size. She can, but can be rather limited in that ability.
She’s not very sympathetic, or empathetic… after all, being described as a monster does need a basis. She can be rather cruel in her approach to things, viewing lives as nothing more than commodities to be bought and sold. Same could go for her own crew if anyone steps out of line.
Irvette can be rather… unbending. At times where she could probably yield, or try another approach, she may have a one track mind. And while she’s always overthinking things, at times she may end up being hyper focused while tuning out the rest of the world.
History:
Irvette’s parents were quite loving, peaceful folk from across the sea. Her father lived as a fishermen, her mother liked to garden and sell the fish at the market. Her siblings were all on the way to live in the big city, Irvette and the youngest were learning the trades to help them for the future.
One day, a large ship, flanked by 3 smaller ones appeared on the horizon. Dark sails rising over the sturdy hauls. Irvette, being far too curious for her own good, followed them upon the shore. The ships docked not too far from their small village. Pirates. They raided their small town, pillaging and stealing all that they could find. They stole the children to raise on their own ships as part of the crew or to sell, Irvette never did find out what happened to her younger siblings. Except the youngest, which the Captain asked her to kill for her initiation… after several months aboard the flagship.
He took her in, molded her, and decided that she’d make a great second in command. Ruthless, proper, loyal. He molded her to his preference, and she had no choice but to die and be reborn. He even was the one to give her the new name- Irvette Winifred. And he showed her the world. He showed her the power and wealth that laid out there. The freedom that the open seas offered… and she wanted more. Years passed… and she recognized, that what she felt, must have been love for her dear Captain. And that broke all the protocols. By then she has gained the respect of the crew for her just, and fair approach to things. So, when she took a dagger, and locked herself and the captain in his quarters, emerging only 3 days later, her then green coat covered in blood… they hailed their new captain. Together, they began to sail the high seas, attacking the passing ships, raiding coastal towns, looting small islands and selling their goods, live or otherwise. She forged relationships with some of the shadier folk around the ports, helping them find indentured servants, ready and accepting of their new lives. For this she gained wealth, as did her crew. After all, a proper captain always takes care of her crew.
Relationships:
Her crew is her family. She believes that personal relationships should be kept to a minimum, as they make one grow soft, they interfere with progress.
There are strategic, and professional relationships…call them symbiotic.
Oh, and this odd admiration for the past captain of the ship.
