From up high in the sky, Mossflower looked like large carpet of broccoli, broken up by ribbons of blue and small clearings. Well, it would look like broccoli if Roscoe even knew what vegetables were. As it was, the magpie had zero interested in healthy food. It was sweetrolls and bugs for him.
On this fine morning, Roscoe was looking for his next victim- err... donor. He would be attracted by anything that glinting in the light, which is why he was staying away from the rivers and streams. No only that, but the magpie disliked water as a general rule. Any chance of his feathers getting wet did not sit right with him.
It was then, as he was thinking about it, that his beady, bright eyes caught the flash of something glittery down below on the main road. He banked suddenly, and then drifted down and around, flying silent as he stilled his wings as he glided low over the treetops. He landed into a tree with but a rustle, and watched as his potential heist walked steadily down the road in the direction of the abbey...
