"I shouldn't have eaten that last slice of pie," Liam muttered under his breath, feeling slightly nauseous as he made his way towards the edge of Mossflower Wood. "I mean, it was delicious, and Mrs. Sciurini wouldn't take no for an answer. Plus, they gave me some extra to take with me on the way. Still," he groaned, pausing for a moment to let a sudden turn of nausea pass. "I should have been firmer. Oh, my poor stomach!"
The mouse's nose twitched as gentle breeze brought with it a sharp, briny smell. "I'm close to the sea!" he said excitedly, forgetting for a moment his feelings of sickness. "Well, close enough anyways. If I'm a lucky enough, there'll be a crew that I could voyage with. I can picture it already," he said wistfully, an image of himself standing at the prow of a sailing vessel conjured up in his mind. Water spraying past him, a far away look in his eyes as he gazed into the horiz-
THUD!
"Ow!" Liam yelped, having wandered face first into a tree. He glared at it for a moment, then sighed. Without further pause, he continued walking towards the shore.

THUD! "Ow!" Liam yelped, having wandered face first into a tree. He glared at it for a moment, then sighed. Without further pause, he continued walking towards the shore. Franz froze in his stride. " A sound... a familiar sound," he thought. He turned away from his men and directed himself towards the woods. " Something tasty this way comes!" He thought gleefully, openly cackling as he stepped toward the woods, keeping his men in sight. " Hello? Is someone there?" He asked calmly, grinning as he fixed his eye patch.

Liam stiffened at the loud cackling noise he heard, before he heard it ask if anyone was there. His intuition, along with a sense honed by years of travel, told him that it would be unpleasant for whatever had made the noise to find him. The mouse stumbled towards a nearby tree and hid behind it, keeping an ear out for the mysterious creature that had cackled so wickedly.
A few heartbeats later, a weasel strode into view. Though Liam could only see his back he could swear that, somehow, this weasel was smiling madly. He was missing patches of fur, clad in black leather trousers and carrying what appeared to be two cutlasses and a large knife.
Gripping his spear carefully, Liam began to inch to the nearest tree, hoping to make a quiet getaway. More than once, he had learned the hard way that starting a battle did not mean that he would finish it. Step by step he backed away, until his back hit the bark of a tree. Letting slip a small sigh, he moved to give himself more cover, unaware of the twig his footpaw was descending towards.

Sniffing here and there, Franz continued to search for whoever made the sound. Perhaps it was just the wind, perhaps a bug, or more likely, the Great Kefka playing tricks on his mind. Whatever the case, he remained vigilant, keeping an eye on his men near the shore while searching the treeline until... Snap! Franz's ears perked up at the sounds of a snapping twig. " Ah ha!" He grinned. His hears did indeed hear someone, but who could it be? A new addition to the crew? Valuable cargo? or perhaps... " The captain wants guests. We mustn't think that way. Hansel, Gretel, it is not your time." He muttered to himself. He dusted himself off, adjusting his belt before turning around. After all, if he is to be seen, it would be important to be presentable as the captain would say... unless... He silenced those thoughts before turning around to face the source of the sound. " Oh! Well hello!" He said somewhat surprised by an armed mouse standing not far behind him. His grin stretched across his face. " Lovely day, isn't it? The salty winds and forest make a refreshing mix don't you think?" He continued to pace in place with his gazed fixed on this new guest. Here this little morsel was sneaking up behind him, armed with a pointy friend and the captains orders were to NOT immediately eliminate him? This situation would have ended before it began had he been under any other captain. This one had caught him off guard, could have taken Franz by complete surprise, and now has seen his face. That last fact should have ended it, but we were here to make friends. Who knows, this one could be a welcome addition to the landing crew. He certainly showed initiative and such a long pointy friend he already had! Regardless of the mouse's potential, his fate was sealed. He was going to return to the boat, one way or another. So let's try and be friendly about it... " And who might you be?"
